Founded in 1954, Richco has become a major supplier of plastic components to the electrical and electronics industries. We take pride in our company motto – To design and manufacture the finest quality plastic parts, to price them competitively, and to deliver them promptly.
Started in a small candy store-turned manufacturing facility on the northwest side of Chicago, founders Craig Richardson and his brother Charles produced their first part, the e-clamp, using an extrusion machine. They produced and shipped out their first order to a large pinball manufacturer, with the e-clamp quickly gaining popularity thereafter. After Craig and Charles perfected the manufacturing process for their clamp, their business really took off. A machine was later purchased to extrude tape, which then completed the manufacturing cycle for their new plastic component.
The years following were successful for the Richardson brothers and allowed them to relocate to a manufacturing/warehousing facility in Chicago, which remained the corporate office until September of 2002, when Richco relocated its World Headquarters to Morton Grove, Illinois. Richco’s product offerings continued to grow over the next few years following the release of that initial e-clamp, and expanded to include component clips and beaded ties. In the late 1950s, the product line had expanded enough to allow for the first printing of the Richco catalog.
The expansion was made possible by offering an innovative and ever-growing product catalog, which has now become a staple means of showcasing our product and capabilities. The knowledgeable sales teams are fully supported by an industry-savvy engineering department and consumer-minded customer service team. Most of the components that have been developed over the years were a direct result of engineers in the field who have expressed a specific design need to Richco's engineering team. Richco has always pursued the needs of our customers, offering capabilities to produce standard molded parts, along with the ability to provide custom molding, short run prototyping, tool modifications, and full product support.
